Tartan Emergency Support Fund
During the coronavirus pandemic, CMU has seen increased requests from students who are facing hardships beyond their control. Your gift to the Tartan Emergency Support Fund provides CMU with critical resources to step in and help individual students during times of crisis.
What does the Tartan Emergency Support Fund support?
The Tartan Emergency Support Fund provides financial resources to help meet students’ most urgent needs. Some are experiencing job loss or food and housing insecurity, some lack the technology they need to participate in online learning and some require emergency financial aid to continue their education. All CMU undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply for assistance. Your generosity will make an immediate difference in their lives.
Impact of your support
You can empower CMU students to continue to be successful in their learning, research and professional development, despite the obstacles presented by COVID-19. A few examples of the urgent requests CMU’s Division of Student Affairs has been working to fulfill with help from the Tartan Emergency Support Fund are:
- A graduate student who lost his off-campus job that was covering basic living expenses such as rent, utilities and food.
- An undergraduate student whose family is struggling to afford additional food expenses with her living and learning from home.
- Undergraduate and graduate students who needed to move home for the remainder of the semester and could not afford travel and storage costs.
As our students are engaged in remote education and discovering new ways to put their hearts in the work, your gift will meet their most pressing needs today — and help our community emerge from this challenge even stronger.
