CMU Rowing 2020
Carnegie Mellon University Rowing Club has been out rowing the Allegheny for over 30 years. Currently, we are a team of over 30 rowers and coxswains. We practice six days a week, getting on the water before 6 am in the fall and spring. In the winter, when the weather prevents us from water practice, we continue our training indoors, weightlifting and erging. We race in about 3 races in both the fall and spring seasons, facing other colleges, some of which are varsity programs.
One of the best parts about training for a sport is being able to compete and see how the team's hard work has paid off. This year we are raising money to purchase a trailer for our boats. We travel throughout the region to different regattas and will rely on the trailer to transport our boats. Purchasing a trailer will help support and build the team. Unfortunately, our season was cut short this year but we hope to come back stronger than ever this fall!
The $5,000 will be used to fund a trailer that is used to store and transport our boats. Any extra funds will be used for other general expenses related to upcoming regattas as well as equipment expenses. We are a club sport at the university, so we do not receive the same funding as varsity programs. Instead, we are grateful for the contributions from friends, family, and alumni to help offset costs on our rowers. As college students, we are often busy meeting the rigorous workload of Carnegie Mellon, so your donations take a lot of stress out of our lives. Your support means so much to our team!
