Ballroom Dance Team: National Championships
Thank you for helping the CMU Ballroom Dance Team attend the USA Dance National Collegiate DanceSport Championships in Chicago, March 28-29, 2020!
The Ballroom Dance Club is one of the largest and most recognized organizations on campus, and our competitive team is among the best collegiate ballroom teams in the country. Our goal as a club is to teach people how to dance socially and competitively, foster a community of dancers of all levels, and represent CMU at several competitions per semester. We have world-class professional instructors who have been with our team for decades, and with their help, we have turned hundreds of CMU students into capable dancers.
This is the first time that CMUBDC is going to the USA Dance National Collegiate DanceSport Championships. It is also the largest financial undertaking that the team has undertaken in recent history. The total trip is estimated to be just over $14,000. This is our last competition of the semester and a climax to our competition season.
Since Chicago is over 7 hours away, and for logistical, safety, and team bonding reasons, we are renting a bus. In addition, we are staying overnight for two nights, and Chicago hotels are more expensive than where we stay for the average competition. We are also is responsible for the competitors' entry fees and sustenance for the long trek.
We are planning to take 48 team members with us. The average cost will be just over $290 per person without subsidies. Our goal is to subsidize the cost so students pay $60 per person, as one of our club's goals is to mitigate barriers to entry in the ballroom world.
The goal of this campaign is to raise $5,000, which would cover the cost of bus transportation. Any additional funds raised will pay for some of the other expenses. Your generosity will be endlessly appreciated.
We cannot wait to compete in Chicago, and we hope you will help us get there!
Thank you for your support and happy dancing!

All funds currently raised and any future contributions will remain with the club to be used for a similar purpose going forward.*
