Global Business Brigades 2020
Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led organization. Our organization seeks to empower under-resourced communities to resolve global health and economic disparities. We strive to inspire all involved to collaboratively work towards an equal world.
Our team is, specifically, Global Business Brigades. We provide hands-on business consulting and financial literacy lessons to rural communities around the world. This year, we will be volunteering in Panama.
Our team consists of students of all years and of a variety of different academic backgrounds including studies in Dietrich College of Humanities & Social Sciences, Tepper School of Business, Mellon College of Science, Carnegie Institute of Technology, and the School of Computer Science.
This year, we will be sending our team of 12 students to aid a rural community in Panama. Our brigade is dedicated to improve business knowledge and provide sustainable business solutions to underdeveloped communities we have the opportunity of working with. During our week abroad, we address countless issues such as accounting, financial bookkeeping, operations, leadership, and communication skills. We also work hard to instill confidence and empowerment into our community members so that they believe they are equipped to further improve their small businesses even after our departure. Even though we will only be abroad for one week, our brigade is dedicated year long with mini consulting workshops, fundraising events, and past project follow ups.
Traveling to Panama is essential our organization. We aim to spread impact and continue spreading our mission and helping others. However, meeting the high cost of the trip is our greatest challenge. Including brigade logistics (lodging, food, program fee, staff), flight and travel expenses, our group as looking at an approximate cost of $30,000. We fundraise tirelessly throughout the entire year, from weekly small scale fundraisers, participating in research studies, or selling more than 200 dozens of Krispy Kreme Donuts. By contributing to our organization, you would not only help us meet our $3,000 crowdfunding goal, but also help make this trip of a lifetime possible for all our members.
