US China Summit 2020
The Carnegie Mellon University U.S.-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association (IEA) is a two-sided platform that connects American and Chinese scholars and startups with leading entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and industry leaders.
As a non-profit student organization, our mission is to connect innovators and entrepreneurs worldwide via events such as the New Venture Competition, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum, Career Events, and more.
Our annual Summit is a high-profile forum that gathers leading entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and scholars from the US and China to address real-world challenges and opportunities in various technology and business fields. In addition, we provide startups with financing and talent recruitment channels as well as mentorship programs that pair early-stage startups with seasoned entrepreneurs and investors.
We encourage communications and collaborations between the US and China, support talents from both countries, and facilitate business and technological developments.
This year, the 9th CMU Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship will take place on CMU campus during April 4th - 5th, 2020. Taking advantage of CMU's academic strengths and interdisciplinary resources, we will continue our focus on cutting-edge technology with panel discussions on 5G Empowered, Artificial Intelligence, and Biotechnology. During the conference, we are honored to have both local and international guest speakers share their insights in panel discussions and keynote speeches. Other events, including the New Venture Competition, career fair, and networking events, provide platforms for students, professionals, and entrepreneurs to connect and exchange ideas. In particular, our signature New Venture Competition will highlight 15 teams selected from over 200 participating teams that address fields like robotics, cybersecurity, finch, medical devices & health, and virtual and augmented reality.
Our New Venture Competition, keynote speeches, and panel discussions on cutting-edge technology topics bring guest speakers and professionals from leading academic institutions, innovative startup companies, and venture capital funds to CMU campus. Central to our mission, the Summit presents CMU students with perspectives from both industry and academia to provoke innovative and entrepreneurial thinking. Our job fair will also provide valuable networking opportunities to CMU students. In addition, this event will benefit research institutes at CMU by introducing more venture capital resources via lab tours that will showcase the various ingenious CMU projects. Further, this summit will benefit the CMU community as a whole with the significant media exposure brought to the campus during our event. Our goal of $2,000 will be used to cover the cost of inviting speakers over to Pittsburgh, promoting the conference to a broader audience and more.
Given evolving worldwide health conditions, funding may be used for other needs of the Carnegie Mellon University U.S.-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association, or held until next year.
