OUR PROJECT
The Carnegie Mellon International Film Festival (CMU IFF) encourages a collaboration between students, film and the community. CMU IFF engages the Pittsburgh community, promotes cultural exchange and raises awareness of critical global issues. The international films selected and screened exclusively by students amplify voices from diverse local and global social identities.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
The Carnegie Mellon International “Faces” Film Festival will be held March 16th - April 2nd. This year, CMU IFF will present 14 narrative feature films, documentaries and short films intended to be discussed while celebrating the spirit of “Faces of Change.”
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to cover the expenses of the festival, including event receptions, screening fees, and honorariums for festival guest speakers. Any extra funds will go towards the honoraria of the filmmakers for the free live discussions we offer for our participants. All donations in any amount are greatly appreciated!
WHY CONTRIBUTE
Over the years, CMU IFF has garnered widespread recognition that has attracted both internationally renowned guests, including Oscar-winning directors Jonathan Demme and Spike Lee, and nominated directors, like Hannah Polak and Emad Burnat from Poland and Palestine respectively.
Thanks to donor contributions this year, CMUIFF was able to bring Afghanistan filmmaker Miriam Ghani to show her film “What We Left Unfinished,” unite Asian-interest organizations in the screening of Asian-Made Short Films, and bring together Pittsburgh organizations like Haiti Friends for the showing of the Cannes-nominated film “Freda.” We would like to expand the scope of the films and discussions with more donations from supporters like you.
